Concluding Your Speech

Equal to your ability to grab the attention of your audience at the beginning is the necessity of ending well. Too often speakers circle the airport multiple times before finally landing their speech. All people dislike this when they fly and even more when they listen. You simply must end before they do.

My latest speech covered this topic: “What must change in my heart so my money says the right things about me?” Here is how I ended it.

“Remember that everything you own, want or will inherit is going to end up here (see above picture). In light of that, why don’t we seek to use our possessions in the manner that most accurately displays the beauty of Christ.”

The photo was purchased from istockphoto and the final quote loosely resembles something Matt Chandler says on a regular basis.
